This short video will show you how to collect a hair sample for a hair drug test. We will cover how much hair you need, how to cut the hair and how to package the hair sample to send to the drug testing lab.

How to Collect a Hair Sample

In this video, I am going to show you how to collect a hair sample for a drug test which will provide you up to a ninety day drug history report from a CLIA certified laboratory.

Your hair sample needs be roughly the diameter of a pencil or soda straw.

Use an alcohol wipe on your scissors, select a long thin strip of hair and cut as close to the scalp as possible.

Minimum hair length must be half inch, you can collect from any part of the head.

If you do not have approximately one hundred strands or pencil diameter then cut from another spot.

Fine hair will need more strands.

When you collect hair, keep roots together and place in foil, crimp foil around root ends. With your hair sample secure in the foil wrap it can be inserted in the sample envelope.
