Approved by the FDA, the CholesTrak® Home Cholesterol Test accurately measures your total cholesterol level quickly and conveniently at home.

The CholesTrak® is very easy to use requiring only one or two drops of blood from your fingertip. In 10 to 12 minutes, read the thermometer-like device to determine your total cholesterol level.

The CholesTrak® helps to identify those individuals with elevated blood cholesterol levels. Individuals with elevated cholesterol levels should contact their family physicians to arrange for appropriate medical treatment.

Understanding your Total Cholesterol level:

Desirable: less than 200mg/dL  This cholesterol level suggests that you are most likely at low risk for heart disease.

Borderline-High:  200 - 239 mg/dL  You may be at an increased risk for heart disease.  If you are Borderline-High it becomes more important to find out your LDL, HDL ratios and you should talk to your doctor.

High:  240 mg/dL  You may be at a greater risk for heart disease whether or not you have additional risk factors.  You should ask your doctor for advice.

(Rating levels supplied by National Cholesterol Education Program)

Cholesterol Tests are important tools in combating heart disease. Coronary Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in America today. Elevated levels of cholesterol play a significant role in as many as 50% of those deaths. Although high cholesterol is a serious risk factor for heart disease, it can be modified.  Home Cholesterol Tests can help you to easily monitor your cholesterol level.

Cholesterol is naturally produced by your liver and helps carry fat to parts of your body that need it for energy and repairs. When your cholesterol rises above a desirable level, it may build up in your body and may put you at increased risk for heart disease or stroke.

High cholesterol is one of the main risk factors for coronary heart disease that you can control and periodic cholesterol testing is an important part of that process. The National Cholesterol Education Program recommends that all adults age 20 and over have a cholesterol test performed annually.

Q: What is Total Cholesterol?

A: Total Cholesterol provides a general indication of your risk for heart disease.  If your Total Cholesterol level is over 200 mg/dL, you are at a higher risk for coronary heart disease, which can lead to a heart attack.  High cholesterol is also a risk factor for stroke.  The lower the number, the better when it comes to Total Cholesterol.

Q: How accurate is the CholesTrak home cholesterol test?

A:  The CholesTrak is just as accurate as tests used by doctors and medical labs.  In fact, a number of doctors use this same test in their offices.  The CholesTrak was evaluated in consumer studies in the USA with over 400 people.  When the instructions were followed carefully and all the step were performed correctly, the accuracy, on the average, was 97%.

No. You can test yourself at any time, fasting is not necessary.

Q: Are there any foods, alcohol or medications that will affect my test results?
